When all the symptoms of disease have been lifted, the disease is also cured in the interior.
It is not conceivable, nor can it be shown through any experience in the world that, after the lifting of all the symptoms of the disease and of the entire complex of perceptible befallments, anything else besides health remains or could remain such that the diseased alteration in the interior would be left unexpunged.
Comm: The old school’s material view of disease: When someone has been restored from his disease by a true practitioner of the medical art, in such a manner that no sign of the disease, no disease symptom remains, and all the signs of health have permanently returned, how can anyone, without insulting the human intellect, maintain that the whole bodily disease continues to dwell in the interior? And yet Hufeland, the former director of the old school, asserted, “Homeopathy can lift the symptoms but the disease remains,” (Hufeland, Die Homöopathie, p. 27, line 19). This he maintained partly out of grievance over the progress made by homeopathy for the welfare of humanity, and partly because he still holds an entirely material concept of disease. He has not yet been able to think of disease as a state of being in which the organism is dynamically altered by a morbidly mistuned life force- as a modified condition. Rather, he views disease as a material thing which, after the cure is accomplished, could still be left lying in some corner of the organism in order, some day during splendid health, to break forth at will with its material presence! This is how crass the blindness of the old pathology still is! No wonder that it could only engender a medical system which is solely occupied with scouring out the poor patient
