A one-sided disease may have either an internal or an external main symptom.

The main symptom may be either:

1. an internal suffering (e.g. , a headache of many years' duration, diarrhea of many years' duration, an old cardialgia, etc.), or

2. a more external one. The more external sufferings are usually called local diseases.
