Organon §170

In every case where an alteration of the disease state has proceeded, the stock of symptoms that still remain must be ascertained anew and (regardless of the medicine that initially seemed to fit as the second medicine) a new homeopathic medicine must be selected that is as appropriate as possible to the new current state. If it should happen that the medicine which at first appeared to be the second best still shows itself to be well adapted to the disease state that remains (which is rarely the case) it would thus earn our confidence all the more as the medicine to be preferentially employed.
